Part 1: Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

General & Privacy

Q: Is my data safe?

A: Yes. We prioritize your privacy. Your CV data is processed solely for the purpose of parsing, generating suggestions, and providing feedback. We do not share your personal contact details with third parties without your consent.

Q: Will this CV pass Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS)?

A: Yes. The "Create from Scratch" templates and the PDF export function are specifically designed to be ATS-friendly. We prioritize clean formatting and standard fonts that hiring software can easily read.

AI Features

Q: Why does the AI suggestion sound "robotic" or generic?

A: The AI generates content based on the information you provide. If you only input "Sales Manager" with no bullet points, the AI has to guess.

  • Tip: Provide 2-3 basic bullet points about your tasks first. The AI can then polish them into "achievement statements" much more effectively.

Q: Can I turn off the AI suggestions?

A: The AI suggestions are on-demand. They only appear when you click the "AI Suggestion" button. You are always free to type manually without AI interference.

Q: Why did my Grade change when I didn't edit anything?

A: If you changed the Target Job Title or tweaked a small section, the "Relevancy" score might have shifted. Additionally, we occasionally update our scoring algorithms to match the latest hiring trends, which can slightly alter scores.

Part 2: Troubleshooting Common Issues

Upload & Parsing Errors

Problem: "My CV failed to upload."

  • Check File Size: Ensure your file is under the size limit (typically 5MB).

  • Check File Type: We strictly support PDF. If you only got a Microsoft Word (.docx), you can convert it by using the export feature in Microsoft Word. Image files (JPG/PNG) will not work.

Problem: "The parsed text is gibberish or has strange symbols (e.g., ’)."

  • Cause: This is a font encoding issue in your original PDF.

  • Fix: Open your original CV in Google Docs and export as .pdf. Then try uploading that instead. Some versions of Microsoft Word might generate files with wrong encoding. If that still doesn't work, please create a support post in our forum. Our team will be helping you out.

Problem: "The AI put my Job Title in the Company Name field."

  • Cause: Non-standard formatting in your uploaded file (e.g., using sidebars or complex tables) confused the parser.

  • Fix: You do not need to re-upload. Simply click into the incorrect field in the CV Editor and type the correct information manually.

AI Content & Scoring

Problem: "The 'Needs Improvement' tag won't go away even after I edited the section."

  • Solution 1: Did you save? The score only updates when you click Save.

  • Solution 2: Check the specific criteria. If the feedback says "Lack of Results," adding more words won't help unless those words include numbers or specific outcomes (e.g., "improved efficiency by 20%").

Problem: "The AI suggested a skill I don't have (Hallucination)."

  • Context: AI models sometimes "fill in the blanks" based on common patterns in your industry.

  • Fix: Always review AI suggestions before accepting them. If the AI adds a skill you don't possess, delete it or click Clear and try generating the suggestion again.

Export & Download

Problem: "I can't edit the PDF after downloading it."

  • Reason: The downloaded PDF is a finalized document meant for sending to employers.

  • Fix: If you spot a mistake, go back to the TalentLabs CV Manager, make the edit there, and download a fresh copy.
